General Town Information

The Town of Grand Isle, is located in the County of Grand Isle, in the northwestern corner of Vermont.  Most of the town shares an island in Lake Champlain with South Hero to the south.  There are four small islands located offshore within the boundaries of the Town.  Grand Isle is connected to North Hero, Vermont on the north by a drawbridge, and to New York State on the west by a year round ferry.

Located in the Town of Grand Isle is the Ed Weed Fish Culture Station.

Vermont's oldest standing home, the Hyde Log Cabin, is also found here.  One of Vermont's rare to uncommon examples of red or silver maple/green ash swamps, the Pearl Swamp, is also in Grand Isle.  It covers nearly 300 acres and contains the rare Nodding Trillium.
