The Grand Isle County Historical Society was formed in 1955 to help with the preservation of the Hyde Log Cabin.  The Society manages the Historic Site and presents programs related to local history..

The Hyde Log cabin was the home of Jedidiah Hyde Junior and descendants from 1783 until the mid-1940s. The cabin was moved to it’s current location in 1946 The Block schoolhouse was built in 1814. It was used as a school until the 1950’s when the current Grand Isle Elementary School was built. . In 2004, it was moved to the Hyde Log Cabin Historic site and preserved.

The site is open for visitors on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 11-5 Memorial Day to Columbus Day.  GPS location 228/30 Rt 2  Grand Isle , Vt
