TOWN OF GRAND ISLE
POLICY OF STREET NUMBERING AND NAMING
The Board of Selectmen of the Town of Grand Isle hereby ordain:
The Selectboard of the Town of Grand Isle hereby establishes the following policy in order to develop a uniform street naming and numbering system throughout the Town. This system will be developed by the Town Listers and the Town Clerk’s Office in conjunction with the local Post Office.
1. STREET NAMING - The established public road names will continue to be used. All private road names in current use will remain and in the case of unnamed roads, the town will work with the residents on those roads to establish mutually agreeable names.
2. STREET NUMBERING - Numbers will be assigned every 150' to concur with our local zoning frontage requirements for building lots. Odd numbers will be on the left and even numbers on the right. Roads will be numbered from South to North. U. S. Rte. #2 is the main thoroughfare running South to North through town and roads running East and West from that route will start numbering at U. S. #2. All other East and West roads will be numbered from East to West. The Guidelines of the U. S. Postal Department will be used.
3. APARTMENT BUILDINGS - The building shall be given one street number and each individual apartment an apartment number.
4. STREET SIGNS - The Town will erect street signs on all public streets.
