WINTER SAND / SALT POLICY

The Selectboard of The Town Of Grand Isle hereby establish this Policy to regulate the use of Sand/Salt by Town Residents / Taxpayers

We will continue to allow Grand Isle residents to pick up sand / salt mixture for their own use for driveway's, steps, stairs, etc. usage must be minimal and own tools will be used for loading. These residents may not sell this sand / salt for profit.

We do not advocate selling Sand / Salt to commercial businesses, they need to make an effort to stockpile their own winter materials. However, local businesses may be allowed to purchase materials in the event of an emergency, providing materials are available. The price will be established by the Road Foreman and the Road Commissioner by Nov. 1st. Service will be discontinued for non-payment or abuse of Town Property.

A Commercial Business / Operator is defined as follows: Any operator of a salt / sander unit who spreads Sand / Salt materials for re-sale to customers.

This policy is for Grand Isle Town Residents / Taxpayers only, Non-Residents shall seek materials from the Town they reside in.
